Application
(From Team Managers) I can't seem to access the EAL entry form. What should I do?
EVERYONE should input data to the EAL list from the home page at www.pikespeakinvitational.com. where is says "click Here for EAL list". The site where Team Managers use the Team ID is only for them to view what has been submitted.
Do we HAVE to put our names on an EAL list?
No. However, on the remote chance the security level at the Air Force Academy should go higher, you would not be allowed to enter UNLESS your name is on the EAL list. It is your choice.
I am unable to enter the EAL access list from my team page.
The EAL list on the team page is just a listing for coaches/managers to see what names have been added. All entries on the EAL list must be made on the FRONT PAGE. Some teams designate one person to enter all names. Other teams make it the responsibility of each family.
What is an "EAL"?
An EAL is an Entry Access List. Each team is requested to submit the names of anyone who might want to attend the tournament as a spectator. (This may be done individually by each family and names may be added up to the day of the tournament.) It should contain the names of all people who might be attending your matches at the Air Force Academy.(Do not include players and coaches.) In the event the security level should be increased, the Security Police will use these lists to verify who may enter the Academy.
May I continue to add names to the EAL?
Names may be added until the event actually begins. It does not matter if a name is on the list and that person does NOT attend; however, in the event the EAL is used, anyone whose name does not appear would be denied access at the entry gate.
Where can I find a Guest Player Roster form?
Use your Team ID and log in. On the first screen there is a block on the right hand side which says "Duplicate Forms Here".
The application form does not look right on my screen (overlapping drop down boxes, long rows over the input fields, etc.) What is going on?
First, you should let the ENTIRE form load BEFORE you scroll. It is a big form.

In short, your computer does not have enough memory (RAM) available to render the form correctly. Here is the solution that will work in most cases:

1. Clear the cache (temporary files) in Internet Explorer (Usually Tools>Internet Options>Remove Temporary files
2. Shut down Internet Explorer
3. Restart the computer
4. Open JUST MS Internet Explorer.
5. Go to Web site, fill out form.

In most cases, this will solve the problem....
What age group shall I register for?
This tournament occurs during the 2007/2008 playing year. Unless you wish to "play up" you should register for the age group in which you have been competing this playing year.
Where do I go to enter names on an Entry Access List (EAL)?
There is a notation on the front page in blue which says Entry Access List here.
Where do I send my application fees?

6660-D Delmonico Blvd., Suite 212

Bracketing/Team Selection
When will schedules be available?
Final schedules will be posted on line approximately two weeks before the games commence. In 2008 we may be holding spaces for teams who are playing in their Regionals and will not be able to finalize schedules until those matches are concluded.

General
If I have a question that cannot be answered by e-mail, who can I call?
Call Marty Mankamyer, Director, at
(719) 594-6662.
May I bring my dog to the tournament?
No dogs are allowed on the Air Force Academy Athletic Fields. In addition, no dogs are allowed in cars parked at the Pikes Peak Invitational.

PetSmart does offer doggy day care. Contact them at 719-531-7951. This facility is on North Academy Boulevard and very convenient to the soccer fields.
What format do U11 teams play?
All teams, including U11 will play 11 v 11.
What should we do in case of a medical emergency at the fields?
DO NOT CALL 911! The tournament has a contract with Event Medical who have trained emergency technicians on site as well as an ambulance. Any emergency should be reported immediately to the closest official (field marshal, linesman) who will radio tournament headquarters for medical assistance.

If 911 call is initiated at the Air Force Academy, it MUST be answered with the dispatch of their fire truck and other Air Force personnel. The response to the emergency will be significantly quicker by utilizing the on-site medical personnel.
Why does it take so long to find parking?
All schedules are built on 2-hour time slots. When one round is finished, even though there is extra time in every age group, the teams do not leave the site as quickly as teams are coming in. The Security people try to expedite parking, but with limited spaces, sometimes you have to wait.
Will there be tournament merchandise for sale. If so, where?
The retail tent will be located on the middle level at the north end in the same area as the food concessions.
Why aren't there food concessions on every level?
The AFA is in charge of all food vendors. They make the deicisions on what kind of food and where the vendors will be located.
Why is the grass so long?
The AFA Maintenance Department is responsible for field conditions. We do ask for them to cut the grass as short as possible, but if we have a lot of rain, between cuttings it is longer than some of the players and coaches prefer.
Are tents allowed?
"Pop-up" type tents are allowed, but may not be enclosed. Shade-shelter only.
Is there a map of the fields available?
There will be a map of the fields posted on the Duplicate Forms site. Enter your Team ID and then click on Duplicate Forms.
Why can't we bring back packs and coolers to the fields?
The Air Force Academy has a regulation which does not allow back packs and coolers for security reasons. They have made an exception to allow teams to bring equipment bags to the fields, but spectators may not.

Will we have time to visit some of the attractions?
Monday through Friday games commence at 10:00 am. There should be ample time to do some sightseeing, particularly on days when you have only one game scheduled.

Hotels/Travel
Do we have to stay in one of the hotels listed?
Yes, the PPI has more than 1200 rooms under contract. The hotels in this group are the only ones that may be used if your team requires rooms during the tournament.
Are we supposed to fill out our Hotel Rooming Lists on line?
No. For 2007 hotel rooming lists are not a part of your on-line registration, and will be handled entirely between your team and your hotel.
When I made my reservations you said the property didn't have any more rooms and our team chose two properties. When we checked in there were lots of rooms available at the first property.
The hotels commit a certain number of rooms to us for the tournament. Franchise hotels have to reserve a certain number of rooms for travelers in their awards programs. In addition, Colorado is a vacation state and there are times a scheduled activity, like a family reunion, gets cancelled after we assign rooms. We DO request extra rooms as we go along, but are never guaranteed that we will get more than they committed originally.
I stay at hotels in other cities that are in the same chain. Why are the prices in Colorado Springs higher?
Colorado is a vacation destination. Summer, of course, is the most popular time for people to travel, The hotels set their own rates, and it is our understanding that there are different rates in different cities and at different times of the year. The tournament does receive a rebate from the hotels however, all hotels know that they must price their rooms competitively in order to attract guests. The Sales Managers do check the website to see what their competitors are doing.
Why do we have to use your housing bureau? We can make our own reservations.
The title sponsor of the Pikes Peak Invitational is Experience Colorado Springs (the convention and visitors' bureau). Their sponsorship funding is tied to our being able to demonstrate the economic impact the tournament has on the economy. There is no other way to track rooms for documentation than to have a central housing authority.
Do Denver team have to stay in hotels (and if so, do they have to use the tournament housing service)?
Denver teams do not have to stay overnight if they choose not to. However, any teams who opt to spend one or more nights in Colorado Springs, MUST utilize the Tournament Housing Service. Teams may not contact the hotels directly as the process of obtaining lodging requires a notice from the Housing Specialist to the hotel regarding the team's indivudal needs.
